Hanukkah comes in the middle of the winter, when the sun hovers low in the sky and the moon is in its darkest phase. It's a magical, mysterious time for children and grown-ups too. In the heart of the redwood forest - which is home for The Jewish Wed-ding Band and Music For Little People - the winter afternoons are brushed with golden light, and the long nights are full of stories, melodies and dreams. Gathered around the menorah we see the glow of the candles reflected on the children's faces, while all around us the forest slumbers. Just as we delight in in the candle-light, we also open our hearts to the winter darkness, an essential part of the natural cycles of the earth. In Judaism, as in other spiritual traditions, the winter solstice is a time of singing.
